  • British mother randomly snaps best Christmas Day photo of the Royals

Like hundreds of others did in her town of Northfolk, U.K., Karen Anvil went to see the Royal family on Christmas Day.

What she didn’t expect was to take the country’s most popular photo with her iPhone.

"It was pure luck – I took it on an iPhone and it was a great photograph," she told London’s BBC. "The rest is history."

Amongst the best photographers in United Kingdom, Anvil snapped a photo for social media just like everyone else in the large crowd.

But after posting it to Twitter, several national newspapers came asking for the image to use on their front page.

Needless to say, the single mother was shocked by the reaction to her photo.

According to the BBC, Anvil plans to use the money made from the photo to fund her 17-year-old daughter's education.

Any public appearance by the Royals is sure to cause a stir, but being the first Christmas for newly engaged 'couple of the moment' Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the photo carried some added excitment.

The irony of a random onlooker snapping the country's "image of the day" has not been lost on the U.K. media.

However, there is no confirmed report yet on exactly what iPhone she used.
