(Update 6:45 p.m.) – BC Wildfire Services is now reporting the wildfire that ignited along Highway 97c about 5.5 km's west of Peachland is being "held".
KelownaNow's reporter on the scene says ground crews are currently working to control the fire.

BC Wildfire Service reports the fire is 5.5 kilometres west of the Highway 97 and Highway 97C interchange.

A KelownaNow reporter on the scene says there is little smoke visible from Highway 97c and action surrounding the fire seems to be slowing down.
The fire was originally reported around 4:30 p.m. and is estimated at one hectare in size with smoke visible from the highway.
According to BC Wildfire Services there are structures near the wildfire but that they are not currently threatened by the blaze.
The wildfire is reportedly in a sheltered area and is not being impacted by the strong winds in the valley.
