Residents in Erie, Pennsylvanian are attempting to dig themselves out following record setting snowfall in the region.

The city has declared a "snow emergency" in the wake of a storm that kicked off on Christmas Eve and continued until Boxing Day, dumping a total of 143.5 cm (56.5 inches) in 48 hours, according to the National Weather Service.

As you might imagine, with so much snow falling in Erie, Pennsylvanians were out in force to document the historic event on social media.

Despite the fact that Erie still has a severe weather warning in effect, with an additional 10 cm of snow set to fall today, residents seem to be in good spirits!
