  • Blazers’ Dylan Garand named WHL Goaltender of the Week

After a very impressive week, a Kamloops Blazers goalie took home some hardware.

Dylan Garand was named the Western Hockey League Eli Wilson Goaltending Goaltender of the Week.

In both of his game, Garand stopped 48 of 49 shots, sporting a 0.50 goals-against average and a .980 save percentage, recording one shutout in the process. The performances vaulted the Blazers into first place in the BC Division.

Garand has had a very strong start to the season, posting a 7-3 record through 10 games. His seven wins lead the league while his 2.01 goals-against average puts him in 9th. He was also one of five WHL goalies identified by NHL Central Scouting in their "Players to Watch" list for the upcoming NHL Draft.

Other goalies to win the award include Joel Hofer from the Portland Winterhawks, Ethan Anders from the Red Deer Rebels, Beck Warm from the Tri-City Americans, and Roddy Ross from the Seattle Thunderbirds. Garand is the first goalie from the BC Division to take home the award this year.
