A fresh dump of snow is usually a cause for celebration at Big White Ski Resort, however, with July fast approaching the mountain would likely prefer some sunshine.
On Monday, Big White vice president Michael J Ballingall announced the mountain will postpone its opening plans after old man winter returned with a vengeance over the weekend.
“After a look at the conditions on the mountain this morning (in order of appearance) Nessy, Lower Prybar and Upper Prybar and the top of the Bullet Chair lift, it is obvious that Mother Nature is not finished with winter at Big White Ski resort yet,” said Ballingall in a Facebook post.

“We will continue to use a snowcat and backhoe to clear trails wherever we can, but we are going to need a lot of help from the sun!”

On March 16, Big White officially closed down for the 2019-20 season a month early due to COVID-19.
Pass holders were excited to learn that those who choose to renew their passes for next season will receive a 20% rebate.
