  • UPDATE: Grassfire north of Lytton quickly contained by BC Wildfire crews

    (UPDATE: April 20 @ 2:55 pm) – The BC Wildfire Service quickly contained a grassfire north of Lytton on Sunday night. 

    According to Fire Information Officer Taylor MacDonald, four firefighters were able to contain the blaze to less than a hectares. 

    "It was 0.2 hectares in size, and it's under control now, meaning that it's not expected to have any growth or grow beyond the existing perimeter or size," said MacDonald. "We had four personnel respond last night, and three of that personnel responded this morning to continue the mop-up work on site." 

    (ORIGINAL STORY: April 20 @ 1 pm) – The BC Wildfire Service was called into action on Sunday, this time dealing with another blaze in the Kamloops Fire Centre. 

    According to the Service, a 0.23 hectares fire sprouted just north of Lytton at Botanie Creek Road.

    At this point, the service suspects the blaze to be human-caused. The fire is currently listed as "new" for its state of control.
