After four popular BC music festivals announced their 2020 cancellations on Tuesday, Bass Coast Festival has followed suit today.
The popular electronic festival near Merritt has said its 2020 edition has been “postponed” until July 9-12, 2021.
“We expected this announcement, but that doesn’t ease its impact,” says co-founder Andrea Graham.
“A decision of this magnitude impacts an extended community of people already profoundly affected by COVID-19.”
As for refunds, Bass Coast is a festival that runs without any corporate sponsorship and, as a result, relies heavily on money from ticket sales to fund the event each year.
This far into production, a significant amount of non-refundable costs have already been incurred.

“To ensure the future of the event, general admission tickets will be assigned at random to one of the next four years or can be donated to support the festival,” said Graham.
“We will be refunding all volunteer deposits, vehicle passes, reserved campsites, bell tens, cabins and pre-ordered t-shirts.”
A release from Bass Coast said that the community will be dearly missed this summer and they look forward to welcoming everybody back to the dance floor in 2021.
