An attempted murder investigation is underway for Prince George RCMP following an alleged shooting on Tuesday.
According to police, just before 8 pm, officers received a 9-1-1 report of multiple shots fired on Wiggins Place, off Moss Avenue. Frontline officers attended the scene where they located multiple spent bullet casings on the road but no victims.
Neighbourhood inquiries were made and several residents reported hearing gunshots. In addition to that, two dark vehicles were seen fleeing the area after the incident.
Approximately 15 minutes later, police were notified that a 28-year-old Prince George man attended the hospital with a single gunshot wound. The wound was not believed to be life-threatening.
Moments later, officers received a report of a vehicle fire on Moyie Street, just a few blocks from the shooting. Investigators believe the fire was deliberately set and is associated with the shooting.
The Prince George RCMP's Serious Crime Section, Forensic Identification Section, and Police Dog Service are all assisting with the investigation. Investigators stated that the incident was targeted and part of the drug trade so residents are not at risk.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
