Residents of the Central Okanagan went above and beyond for the Lake Country Food Bank over the weekend in support of the 8th annual Cram the Cruiser event. 

Hosted in the parking lot of Lake Country’s Save-On-Foods, the event prompted locals to fill an RCMP cruiser with non-perishable food, hygiene products, children’s toys and monetary donations to benefit the community food bank.

The 2019 edition of the event managed to raise an impressive 1,175 pounds of donated goods and nearly $7,500 in cash, cheque and gift card donations. 

 “The generosity of the community never fails to amaze us,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, founder of Cram the Cruiser in Lake Country.

 “We continue to see our donors returning year after year, to do something great for such an important cause.”

Since the inception of Cram the Cruiser, the annual event has collected over 14,500 lbs of donations and over $42,636 solely for the Lake Country Food Bank.

“The RCMP would like to extend our sincere thanks to our fellow first responders in Lake Country, as well as to Save-on-Foods and Starbucks Coffee in Lake Country who provided hot chili and coffee to serve to our donors,” adds Cpl. O’Donaghey.
