AccuWeather has released its 2019 spring forecast for Canada and it looks like the cold weather will stick around British Columbia for a little longer.

However, a dramatic and quick flip to warm weather is expected a few weeks into the season.

“The main storm track is expected to shift up into northwestern British Columbia and southeastern Alaska by mid-spring, leading to persistent cloudy, windy and wet weather,” said senior meteorologist, Brett Anderson.

That northern shift will allow frigid Arctic air with milder air from Vancouver through Calgary.

It could also spell an early end to the ski season for resorts across the B.C. Interior and Rockies.

Anderson says this expected weather could also have implications the last throughout the year, including wildfire season.

“This may set the stage for a very warm and dry summer,” he explained.

Taking a look at the rest of the country, a mild spring is expected for the Maritimes, while southern Ontario and southern Quebec will be dry.

The rest of those provinces, as well as northern Manitoba and Nunavut will be seasonable, while a large part of the southern prairies will be dealing with a drought.
