  • Access restriction order rescinded for Tommy Lakes wildfire

Firefighting personal no longer need to restrict public access to operate efficiently.

Wildfire Service estimates the fire to be burning 29 km northwest of Mile 109 on Highway 97. The fire is currently 70% contained.

Tommy Lake is an active worksite and the public should use caution at all times while travelling in the area.

Trees that have been damaged by a fire may be unstable and have the potential to fall.

Ash pits can be hard to detect and can remain hot long after the flames have died down. The public is encouraged to be aware of all safety hazards before entering an area affected by wildfires.

To report a wildfire, call 1(800)663-5555.
