An Australian who spent the winter working at SilverStar has tested positive for COVID-19 since returning to their home country.
The employee left SilverStar on March 18 and travelled by private car to the Kelowna International Airport before flying to Sydney through Vancouver.
Symptoms were first noticed on March 21, at which point they were tested and confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 25.
While still at SilverStar, the employee lived in Silverlode staff housing and worked as a lift operator on the mountain.
“Our goal is, and continues to be, to keep employees, guests and the local community safe in the midst of the COVID-19 public health crisis,” said a statement from the resort.
“It is our hope that this information will help you manage your healthcare during this unprecedented time.”
SilverStar suspended its operations for the season on March 15, three days before the employee departed the mountain.
