This is some breaking news!

  • A gradual cooling trend will begin today with a risk of thundershowers

There may finally be some relief for those struggling with the recent stretch of heat in Kelowna.

Currently sitting at 12°C under clear skies with light winds, the region can expect a gradual cooling trend to begin today, bringing daytime highs down to the upper 20s.

Some cloud will also settle into the area and with it will come the possibility of evening thundershowers.

"Expect sun and cloud today with more clouds in the afternoon. The gradual cooling trend will bring daytime highs back down to the upper 20s today.," explains Wesla English, NowMedia meteorologist. "Slight instability will also bring the risk of an afternoon or evening shower with thundershowers possible."

Despite the incoming clouds, be sure to slap on that sunscreen for another day or two, as the UV index is supposed to reach a very high ‘eight’ later in the day.

Remember a "Special Air Quality" statement is in effect for the Okanagan region due to the ongoing presence of wildfire smoke.

The pollen index has dipped down to ‘low’ and shows no sign of changing over the next few days.

Happy Thursday Kelowna, the weekend is right around the corner!
