When you think about visiting the Westside, what comes to mind? Probably the Wine Trail, Bear Creek or maybe the large cinema. Gellatly Aquatic Park

The Gellatly Bay Waterfront on Okanagan Lake boasts two kilometres of beaches and boardwalks, perfect for a walk or bike ride. Along the way, you’ll see the Gellatly Aquatic Park, which is a great spot to stop and have some fun on the water, especially if you have little ones with you. 

The famous wharf at Gellatly Aquatic Park, which used to service CNR sternwheelers many years ago, is now like a playground on the lake. Complete with zip lines and diving boards, this is the perfect place to cool off and have some fun while you’re at it!

Westbank Farmer's Market

Fresh produce, homemade baked goods and locally made treasures are a few of the amazing things you'll find at the Westbank Farmer's Market.

The Farmer's Market takes place every Saturday throughout the summer, between 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Westridge Shopping Centre. Live entertainment and food vendors make it an exciting experience for everyone! It's also a great opportunity to stock up on some delicious produce and other local goods. 

Retro Thrift

Avid thrift shoppers know that it can be surprisingly fun to search through interesting stores and find that perfect item. If you haven’t tried it yet, now’s your chance!

Retro Thrift on the Westside offers tons of cool, one-of-a-kind household items and collectables. It’s definitely worth checking out, and maybe you’ll even find something you didn’t know you were looking for.

Kekuli Cafe

Kekuli Cafe may not be quite as “hidden” anymore since its feature on The Food Network’s “You Gotta Eat Here!”, but it’s still a gem that we had to put on this list. With the slogan “Don’t Panic… We Have Bannock!”, Kekuli Cafe offers Aboriginal cuisine inspired by the heritage of the owner, Sharon.Bannock is a historical bread that is known for its versatility.

From being covered in sweet toppings like icing and fruit, to being used in place of a bun for burgers and sandwiches, bannock is always delicious. If you haven’t tried it before, you are missing out!

Dolicious Donuts

If you have a sweet tooth, Dolicious Donuts is definitely the place for you. This little donut shop on the Westside offers classics like Glazed and Apple Fritters, but also has some unique flavours like Key Lime Coconut, Salted Caramel and American Bismarck. They even make a donut breakfast sandwich!

One of the best things about Dolicious Donuts is that they have something for everyone. With so many flavours, no additives or preservatives, and even gluten- and vegan-friendly options, you simply can’t go wrong.

Griffin Farms

Experience a true taste of the Okanagan at Griffin Farms, one of the many beautiful orchards on in the Westside Farm Loop! Enjoy a day out in the sun and try some fresh picked cherries, apricots and peaches at this multi-generational, family-run farm.

Music in the Park

Hoping to experience some live, local entertainment? That’s exactly what you’ll get at Music in the Park. Hosted at Memorial Park on Friday evenings throughout the summer, this weekly event showcases local musical talent of all kinds. Bring a blanket, grab a snack at one of the vendors, and enjoy the show!

Encore Theatre

When the new Landmark Theatre opened up on the Westside, the Encore Theatre that had been there for years had to make a change of pace. The theatre decided to take a unique approach by offering viewings of slightly older or less well-known movies at discounted prices. Catching an evening show will only run you $4, or $7 for 3D. You know what that means – more money to spend on popcorn!

The movies are still totally worth seeing, and it’s a great way to beat the Okanagan heat.
