Motorists are being advised of a lengthy closure planned for the Trans-Canada Highway Thursday night.
The closure between Revelstoke and Golden will begin at 5 pm.
Avalanche control work will keep the highway closed until at least 1 am, said DriveBC.
A detour will not be available.
All commercial traffic will be held in Malakwa starting at 4 pm.
Passenger vehicles will be able to continue to Revelstoke.
Although this section of Highway 1 is not under any weather alerts on Thursday, a heavy snowfall warning was issued on Wednesday.
That alert said the highway had seen 15 cm of snow earlier this week and another 10 cm of fresh snow fell.
That is the second such alert issued for the Trans-Canada Highway in a week and tonight’s closure marks the second one in the same period.
