    If you're like many other people in Kelowna, the weekend for you is all about enjoying the city at your own leisurely pace. Maybe you’ll head to a new to you local restaurant, support our small business owners or check out a fun community event. No matter what you may get up to, Kelowna always has something fun to do on your days off.

    If you want to get out and about this weekend but aren't sure where to start, here is a list of great things we think you should check out on your weekend excursions.

    Grab a bite to eat downtown

    Deciding where to get lunch can be one of the most difficult tasks of the weekend, so let us make a few suggestions for you! Since you’ll probably be downtown at the beach already, we've compiled a list of great downtown restaurants to get some grub.

     

    Across the Lake Swim

    Not much of a risk taker, but like to watch other people tackle extreme challenges? The Across the Lake Swim returns this Saturday morning and will welcome over 1,200 participants. At 8 a.m. sharp, you can watch the first batch of swimmers leave from West Kelowna as they race across Okanagan Lake to City Park. Get your noise makers out and cheer them on!

     

    Hit the Lanes

    This Saturday at 3:30 p.m., you and your friends or family can head to McCurdy Bowling Centre to join in on their celebration of Canada’s 150th! With drink specials at Freddy’s Brew Pub for you and a bouncy house and face painting for the little ones along with 2 free games, this is the perfect way to beat the heat. The event is free, but will cost you a donation to our local food bank.

     

    Refresh with the new Starbucks menu

    It’s that time again, Starbucks has announced a new bout of seasonal sips and snacks to enjoy over the summer. With new delicious iced tea infusions, vegan lunch options and blonde espresso, the new menu is catering to every type of Starbucks goer and with the hot weather that’s expected, it came at the perfect time.

    Looking for some live music to enjoy? On Saturday night, head to Tugboat Bay for a night of classic rock tributes performed by talented local musicians. Showcased will be bands like Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and The Doors. Spend the evening rockin’ out on the beach with a cold bevy in hand at this 19+ event. Tickets are $35 and available online. If you were planning to spend your night watching the sunset on Tugboat Beach, you may want to pick a different location as the park will be closed to all but ticket holders.

    Largest Outdoor Yoga Class

    Need some weekend recovery or to set your intention for the week? This Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. in Stuart Park, the Okanagan’s Largest Outdoor Yoga Class will take place and it’s free! Whether you want to just lounge in Savasana or work on your sun salutations, this all ages and all levels event is a great way to spend your Sunday morning.
