If you're like many other people in Kelowna, the weekend for you is all about enjoying the city at your own leisurely pace. Maybe you’ll head to a new to you local restaurant, support our small business owners or check out a fun community event. No matter what you may get up to, Kelowna always has something fun to do on your days off.

If you want to get out and about this weekend but aren't sure where to start, here is a list of great things we think you should check out on your weekend excursions.

The highly anticipated and adored Armstrong IPE returns this weekend! With bushels of fun around every corner, this is a MUST attend event that some wait all summer for. There's a midway packed full of rides, carnival games, a rodeo, tons of exhibits, vendors tables and much more, so you won’t want to pass up the opportunity to attend. Tickets are available online or at the gate.

    Keep patio season alive!

Even though patio season is almost over, there's still warm weather on the way. Kettle River Brewing has officially opened their new outdoor patio just in time as it is the long weekend, so, spend a day sipping craft brews on the patio and soaking up some sun.

    Prep for back to school

Whether you're ready or not, school starts up soon and that means making lunches every day. Regardless of whether it's for you or your children, lunches can be a hassle. However, KelownaNow food columnist Keddy Pavlik has some easy and yummy suggestions for you! Spend some time on your long weekend trying out these delicious recipes and preparing for the fast approaching school year.

    Visit Vernon

If you haven't yet had the chance to make it to O’Keefe Ranch, this long weekend may be your chance! From a massive corn maze and animal exhibits to a general store and a 91-year-old mansion tour, this is a must hit spot for your end of summer bucket list.

If you do make the trek to Vernon, check out the Kalmalka Classic Festival. A day of stand up paddle boarding fun that the whole family can enjoy, the Classic has events taking place this Friday and Saturday at Kal Beach. For more information on event times and registration, head to the event’s website!

    Did someone say "Double Double"?

We all know a new Tim Hortons in Canada is nothing special, but the newly opened timmies on Bernard Avenue is pretty darn cool. Located in the Paramount Theatre building, below the marquee, this Timmies has a certain star-quality to it that's worth checking out this weekend.

To see a more comprehensive list of events taking place in our community you can head to our events calendar! If you would like the Now you KNow cruiser to be at your next event, send an email to events@kelownanow.com.
