  • 5 things to do this weekend in our city

If you're like many other people in Kelowna, the weekend for you is all about enjoying the city at your own leisurely pace.

Maybe you’ll head to a new-to-you local restaurant, support our small business owners or check out a fun community event. No matter what you may be up to, Kelowna always has something fun to do on your days off.

If you want to get out and about this weekend but aren't sure where to start, here is a list of great things we think you should check out on your weekend excursions.

    “A Night In The Cinema”

On Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Friday at 8:30 p.m. Kelowna’s top burlesque troop, Femme Fatale,  will be hosting a double showing of its biggest performance to date. These empowering and talented dancers will give you all you could hope for and more at this interactive and entertaining show hosted at Sapphire. Tickets are $25 for general admission and are available on Eventbrite.

    BC Dragoons Open House

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday evening, the BC Dragoons will be hosting an open house at the Brigadier Angle Armoury on Lawrence Avenue. This event is a great one for those who have always been curious about the Dragoons, or are interested in joining.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the regiment, try on some equipment, and get a close up look at their new TAPV armored patrol vehicle.

    Live music at OC

The students of the Okanagan College Professional Audio Engineering program will be hosting a jam-packed weekend of live, local music in the Theatre. The event kicks off Friday at 6:30 p.m. for a night of rock n’ roll with bands, My Dudes, Faded Sons, Rosebone, and Rock, Paper, Scissors, ROCK!

Country lovers won’t want to miss out on Saturday’s show as a local star on the rise, Ben Klick, headlines a night of country music with local bluegrass group Under The Rocks set to open. Tickets are $15 at the door at $10 for students.

Try a new twist on your favourite recipes

With it now being a new year, many of us are trying to change up our eating habits. KelownaNow food columnist, Keddy Pavlik, shared with us some of her favourite recipes with a vegan twist to freshen things up. What better way to try something new this weekend?

    Traxxas Monster Truck Show

If you’re looking for some high-intensity family fun this weekend, you’ll probably want to head to Prospera Place and take in an event full of mayhem, courtesy of some giant monster trucks. Watch these massive trucks compete in racing, wheelie contests, and freestyle action. With multiple events taking place, you and your crew are sure to be in for a treat.
