If you're like many other people in Kelowna, the weekend for you is all about enjoying the city at your own leisurely pace. Maybe you’ll head to a new to you local restaurant, support our small business owners, or check out a fun community event. No matter what you may get up to, Kelowna always has something fun to do on your days off.
If you want to get out and about this weekend but aren't sure where to start, here is a list of great things we think you should check out on your weekend excursions.
Cheer on the Rockets!
The Kelowna Rockets will be taking over Prospera Place this weekend with back-to-back games. On Friday night the boys will take on the Vancouver Giants, and on Saturday, they’ll hit the ice against the Red Deer Rebels. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. both nights.
Commemorate Remembrance Day
Show your gratitude and thankfulness for those who served and continue to serve for our country. Saturday morning's Parade will commence at 10:30 a.m. from Kerry Park to the Cenotaph in City Park, where the ceremony will take place.
Following the ceremony, the Okanagan Military Museum is inviting the community to explore and learn more about our own Okanagan heroes by listening to stories and participating in a number of activities. A $5 minimum donation is suggested per family.
If you want to keep the commemorative activities going well into the evening, Ballet Kelowna will be hosting their Acts of Remembrance Showcase at the Kelowna Community Theatre. The production will feature three works including an original piece that pays tribute to the soldiers who fought in World War I.
Kelowna Winter Market
If you’re itching to get some holiday shopping done early this year, you won’t want to miss out on the second annual Kelowna Winter Market. Boasting over 60 talented local vendors, this artisan market is an ideal place to get one-of-a-kind gifts!
Make sure to bring the little ones, as Santa will be making an early visit for photo ops! The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Parkinson Recreation Centre.
