  • 3 people arrested after raid of Savages clubhouse in Langford

    Recently, the West Shoe RCMP participated in a raid of a motorcycle club in Langford, and are now sharing more details about the investigation.

    About 40 police officers from West Shore RCMP, RCMP Emergency Response Team, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – British Columbia (CFSEU-BC), Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and Victoria Police Strike Force executed 12 search warrants on properties and vehicles in the Greater Victoria area on January 31, 2024.

    The search warrants were a part of a months-long investigation lead by West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit into drug trafficking taking place in the West Shore and Greater Victoria area.

    The search warrants were executed at a number of residential and commercial properties in the following areas:

    • 4 properties in Langford, (3 residences and the Savages Club House on Spencer Road);
    • 1 residential property in Colwood;
    • 1 commercial property in View Royal;
    • 1 commercial property in North Saanich;
    • 2 residential properties in Victoria;
    • 3 vehicles (located at residential properties listed above)

    The search warrants resulted in officers seizing numerous pieces of evidence relating to drug trafficking including about 450 grams of fentanyl, 150 grams of methamphetamine, over 200 grams of psilocybin, hundreds of various pills, smaller amounts of powdered and crack cocaine, and another kilogram of an unknown substance, just over $46,000 in cash, an SKS rifle, a prohibited handgun and another imitation handgun and evidence of drug trafficking including cutting agents, packaging materials, scales and scoresheets.

    Police say 450 grams of Fentanyl would make up 4500 individual doses, at minimum.

    "However, this number could be drastically higher and in the tens of thousands based upon the purity level of the Fentanyl. Investigators won’t know the purity level until lab testing is complete," adds Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations

    There were three persons arrested—two men who are residents of Langford, aged 45 and 41. Police said one of the men was a member of The Savages Motorcycle Club. the third person arrested was a 27-year-old woman who resides in Colwood.

    "We thank all the officers and police agencies that assisted in this large-scale investigation. A significant number of drugs and drug trafficking evidence was seized by police. We are committed to dismantling and disrupting the drug trade in West Shore," said Sgt. Ryan Walsh, West Shore RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Unit.

    "CFSEU-BC, along with all of its law enforcement partners, are committed to ensuring that outlaw motorcycle gangs and their associates remain a priority due to the level of violence and harm they inflict on our communities," adds Sgt. Brenda Winpenny, CFSEU-BC’s Media Relations Officer.

    "The Savages outlaw motorcycle gang is known to be a support club for the Hells Angels. The arrests associated with this investigation, including that of a full-patch member of the Savages, are significant in our efforts to fulfill our mandate in addressing public safety."
