Are you looking to run in the Kelowna’s 2018 general election?

If so, nomination packages are now available through the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall.

Anyone interested in running, either for Kelowna City Council or the School District No. 23 Board of Education, is encouraged to pick up a package to learn more.

“It’s important for potential candidates to familiarize themselves with the election process and its legislation,” says Karen Needham, Kelowna’s chief election officer.

“The Office of the City Clerk provides comprehensive materials to potential candidates in person and online through the City of Kelowna website, including links to additional resources from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, as well as Elections BC.”

Residents will vote in the municipal election on Saturday, Oct. 20, which will decide the city’s mayor and eight councillors for the 2018-2022 term.

Four trustees will also be elected to the School District No. 23 Board of Education.

Nomination papers must be completed and submitted to the Office of the City Clerk by Sept. 4 at 9 .m. and Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.

An information session for potential candidates will take place on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
