Sure, they're completely and utterly different.

But, nonetheless, it's fun to compare and fantasize, right?

So, let's pose the question: If you had a cool $5.9 million, would you snap up the ranked-No. 1-for-snow-in-BC ski resort north of Prince George or a lakefront mansion in Kelowna?

Told you it was a mind-boggling contrast.

But, it just goes to show that real estate dollars can go divergent ways in BC.

The listing with Colliers Commercial caught our eye because it's for an entire 900 acre ski resort called Powder King and the asking price was just slashed from $6.5 million to $5.9 million.

The similar-in-price, but polar-opposite-in-setting is the listing with Royal LePage Kelowna for a five-bedroom, five-bathroom house on a half-acre lot with 64 feet of Okanagan Lake beach.

Powder King is remote — off Highway 97 between Prince George and Mackenzie in what's known as the Pine Pass area of the Northern Rocky Mountains.

The mansion in Kelowna is urban waterfront.

So, it comes down to where you would like to spend your time, invest your money and have the bragging rights of owning?

By the way, Powder King is buried with an average snowfall of 492 inches annually.

By comparison, Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, renowned for its champagne powder, averages 294 inches.

The mention of Azouzetta Lake Resort brings us to the fact it's included in the price of the Powder King deal.

Azouzetta is a pristine 340-acre lake six kilometres north of Powder King, and the resort is the only one on the water there with A-frame cabins, RV sites, summer camping, manager's house and convenience store.

So, combined Powder King and Azouzetta Lake Resort make for a double-whammy, four-seasons playground.

Over Powder King's 900 acres, there are 38 ski runs served by three lifts and the vertical drop is 2,100 feet.

The offering also includes the on-site 50-room hostel-style hotel, a lodge with dining room, licensed pub and day-use cafeteria-style restaurant, service shop and on-site staff accommodation.

Powder King has development agreement and master plans in place that allow for significant expansion and acquisition of Crown land.
