The Big White Snow Report: Fresh Powder, Fun Events, and Spring Skiing

Spring has officially arrived, but up at Big White, winter is still delivering fresh powder and exciting events! In the latest Big White Snow Report, hosts Chloe Cameron and Jim Csek shared the latest snow conditions, upcoming activities, and how skiers can take advantage of the season before the resort closes on April 6th.

    Snow Conditions & Weather Update

If you're craving fresh snow, Big White has you covered. The mountain received 5 cm in the last 12 hours and 7 cm in the past 24 hours, making for fantastic skiing conditions. With all lifts and runs open, there’s still plenty of terrain to explore. While powder pockets remain untouched for those who know where to look, Chloe recommends joining Secret Slash's snow school courses or guided snow house tours to discover the best spots.

Despite the arrival of spring, Big White has experienced consistent snowfall. The sun even made an appearance between flurries, creating ideal conditions for a mix of fresh powder and clear visibility.

    Upcoming Events & Activities

Big White is packed with events this weekend, offering something for everyone. Here’s what’s happening:

    • Tube & Groove (Friday, March 21): Head down to Tube Town for a night of tubing with The Moose, complete with hot chocolate and marshmallows.

    • Twinkle Trail (Thursday, March 20): Enjoy a magical evening with lantern-making and hot chocolate before exploring the glowing trail.

    • Trivia Night (Thursday, March 20): Test your knowledge down in Happy Valley.

    • Patrol Groms (Sunday, March 23): A free, hands-on experience for kids up to age 16 interested in learning what it takes to be a ski patroller. Participants even get a free BBQ lunch!

Ex-Demo Ski Sale – A Deal You Don’t Want to Miss

Looking to upgrade your gear? Dizzy’s in the Village Centre is hosting an ex-demo ski sale on Saturday, March 22, from 9 AM to 3 PM. Skiers can test high-end brands like Armada, Atomic, Blizzard, Elan, K2, and Head before committing to a purchase. The $25 demo fee is waived if you decide to buy, making this the perfect opportunity to grab a deal before the season wraps up. Chloe even shared that she bought ex-demo skis last year and found them to be in excellent condition.

    Special Events & Closing Day

With just a couple of weeks left in the season, Big White is gearing up for its 26th annual Neil Edgeworth Banked Slalom on March 30. Registration is open until March 26, so racers should sign up soon!

Closing day for Big White is April 6, meaning there’s still time to squeeze in some late-season skiing before switching to summer sports. Jim even joked that some people have already hit the golf courses in the valley before heading up for a ski run—truly the best of both worlds!

    More Fun Awaits

For those looking to enjoy the mountain beyond skiing, Big White offers snowmobiling, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and a range of other spring break activities. Chloe, for one, is excited about her upcoming sleigh ride adventure!
