A Kelowna baby is in the running for Baby of the Year with a chance to win a $25,000 prize.

Chris Gallardo says his daughter Elisa is in second place in her age group and is encouraging fellow residents to toss her a vote in the competition

In addition to the cash prize, Elisa could be featured in a Good Housekeeping campaign.

“Elisa is a bundle of joy. Waking up everyday with a smile, she loves to observe and learn from others,” says baby Elisa’s bio.

“She is a little mischievous and knows she can get away with it because she’s cute.”

Elisa’s parents say she loves the beach and swimming, playing outside, playing maracas and congas in her spare time and loves to play fetch with her best friend Tommy.

Dad Chris says the money would “mean the world” and would give her a jumpstart at different activities once she is older as well as contributing to her future education when she grows up

“Voting is free and ends Thursday night so time is of the essence,” says Chris.

“The competition is for North America and we are blessed she has made it this far.”

The competition, which runs across North America, is partnering with Baby2Baby, which is a national non-profit organization that supports children living in poverty.

The organization helps provide diapers, clothing and other basic necessities babies and their families need.

In the past 13 years, the organization has distributed over 450 million essential items to families in need across the US.
