Update @10:05 am: Royal Roads University (RRU) is closing the campus due to weather.

Snow is falling in Greater Victoria this morning, making for unideal road conditions.

In response to the weather, there has been a school bus cancellation in the Sooke School District. 

Parents are still able to drop their children off at school, however it is up to parents whether or not to keep them home. 

The Greater VIctoria School District on the other hand has buses running and encourages students and parents to dress warmly and allow extra travel time today. 

Many other school districts on the Island have declared a snow day, including Comox Valley, Saanich, Nanaimo-Ladysmith, Cowichan Valley and more. 

As for University students, the UVic campus is fully open, with most BC Transit routes operating.

UVic asks people to use their own judgment about whether they can safely make it to campus. 

“If you do not feel safe travelling or moving about campus in winter conditions, contact your supervisor, department or instructors to make alternative arrangements,” the university said in a notice. 

Royal Roads University (RRU) says some parts of the campus are closed this morning including the gardens, the library building, and all roads with large hills. Food services may become unavailable.

“All those who can stay home are encouraged to do so,” the university says.

If you need to access the campus, please use the alternate route via the Belmont Gate.

Camosun College is open today, and ground crews are working on maintaining the campuses.
