A woman was tragically killed on Friday night after being struck in a marked crosswalk in Saanich. 

Just before 9 pm, officers responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by the driver of a vehicle on Interurban Road at Grange Road.

Tragically the pedestrian, a 76-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Police said the driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene. 

Collision analysts are investigating the cause of the collision, and have so far determined that speed and impairment are not considered to be factors.
