  • Sidney looking for feedback on new logo design

The Town of Sidney is looking for a refresh as they're working with community members and a local graphic design company, FOE Creative, to update their current logo.

The current logo has served Sidney for the past 15 years, but they feel as it is time to rebrand as they feel that the script font is too difficult to read, and the light aqua-coloured tagline blends into the white background.

The Town also specified that the change will not affect signage in Sidney. What will change is the logo found on advertisements, posters, and publications.

In June, more than 200 community members gave input on the colour palette and imagery they would like to see in a new logo

They have now narrowed down their logo choices to one of two options. They are hoping to get feedback from the public in order to decide on the new design.

Their first design is a clean and modern emblem inspired by Sidney’s surroundings: sunrises over the Salish Sea, mountains in the distance, and vibrant floral displays. This design uses the colour palette that was most popular with community members in the June survey.

Their second design uses an illustrative style that is both modern and rooted in Sidney’s coastal heritage. It features the Bevan Fishing Pier with the Salish Sea, Gulf Islands, Mount Baker, and the rising sun layered in the background. This design uses the imagery that was most popular with community members in the June survey.

The survey is accessible here and will run until August 8.
