This is some breaking news!

  • Poll: Should we have a tandem public and private healthcare system to combat wait times?

On April 8, we ran a story about a doctor who led a legal challenge over a patient’s right to pay for private medical care, which was recently dismissed by the Supreme Court of BC.

Dr. Brain Day, CEO of the Cambie Surgery Centre, says a decision by Canada’s top court not to hear an appeal means long wait times have been "forcibly embedded" into the medicare system.

The organization has argued long wait times in BC’s publicly funded system amounted to a breach of the patient’s rights to life, liberty and security of the person under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

So, do you feel adding private healthcare options would help alleviate public healthcare wait times?
