Long-time business owner, Stephen Karpuk, is seeking a spot on Kamloops City Council in the upcoming election.

Karpuk says he has over 14 years of post-secondary education and has been running his business, Aberdeen Chiropractic Clinic, for nearly 20 years.

He has been a BC rep and national president of the Student Canadian Chiropractic Association, a vice president of the Cariboo Student Society and played a role in getting the TRU Independence Centre built.

Karpuk has been involved with The Rotary Club of Kamloops Aurora Centennial club for nearly 20 years and is the current president.

“It’s time for safer streets, a healthier community. It’s time to support businesses, first responders and health care providers,” states Karpuk.

“It’s time that we stop accepting more problems (and) ensure we have workable plans to solve the problems we have … It’s time for Kamloops to shine again.”

Some of Karpuk’s priorities include supporting city staff, RCMP and other government partners to make Kamloops a safe community again.

“I pledge to advocate hard and work with our partners to ensure all municipal bylaws, and provincial and federal laws are enforced equally for everyone,” states Karpuk.

As a business owner, Karpuk believes that all businesses in Kamloops deserve more support so they can thrive, not fight to succeed, in the city.

Other priorities include addressing infrastructure needs, ensuring the city has more active transportation options, supporting the construction of a cancer clinic in the city and the Royal Inland Hospital.

Karpuk says he would also like to see more green spaces through Kamloops while also amplifying the need for more widespread FireSmart practices across the community.
