The first Kamloops Blazers player is officially off the board, as the Toronto Maple Leafs grabbed the 6 ft 1 in Fraser Minten with the 38th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Minten, from Vancouver, played the past two years with the Blazers, and posted 55 pints in 6 regular season games last year. 

In the playoffs, he was a near point-per-game player, with six goals and 10 assists in 17 games.

Minten is the eighth WHL player to be drafted, after six were selected in the first round last night (Kevin Korchinski, Matthew Savoie, Connor Geekie, Denton Mateychuk, Owen Pickering and Reid Schaefer). 

Two more Blazers are expected to hear their names called throughout the day, with defenceman Mats Lindgren (47 in central scouting) and forward Matthew Seminoff (72) both ranked highly in the final Central Scouting rankings.
