With limited exposure for prospects due to COVID-19 last season, the 2021 WHL draft was pushed back from May to December.
Today was finally the day, as all 22 WHL clubs made plenty of selections over 14 rounds to stock up their prospect pool.
The Kamloops Blazers made 11 picks and didn’t get to make their first selection after dealing the pick to the Regina Pats today for a 2023 first-round pick, likely to use as a trade piece at the deadline this year.
In similar fashion, the team also dealt a third-round pick to the Winnipeg Ice in exchange for a sixth-round pick this year and a third-round pick in 2022.
