Phase two of “BC’s Restart Plan” addresses the reopening of several businesses and services such as hair salons, restaurants and outdoor spaces.
However, the top of the list of phase two openings for parents in BC will be the announcement regarding child care services.
On Wednesday, the province announced that child care and summer camps will look to look to fully reopen by mid-May.
Not all child care services were forced to close in BC, as they operated as essential services for frontline workers during the pandemic.
Upon reopening, kids and staff will undergo daily screening for symptoms and will be sent home to self-quarantine if they show signs of COVID-19.
Thankfully, research has shown that children are less affected than adults by COVID-19 and “clinical attack rates’ in the 0-19 group are low.
