  • Blazers to select 14th in upcoming WHL U.S. Prospects Draft

The Kamloops Blazers will be selecting in the bottom half of the upcoming 2020 WHL U.S. Prospect Draft.

In a statement released by the League, Kamloops found out they had the 14th selection on March 25th. While 14th is less than ideal, the spot means the Blazers will get to chose 31st overall in the second round.

Players eligible for the 2020 WHL U.S. Prospects Draft will be 2005-born skaters who reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Those who aren't taken in this draft will still be eligible for the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft that goes on May 7th in Red Deer.

The Red Deer Rebels won the lottery so they are making the first selection of the night. They will be followed by the Tri-City Americans, Edmonton oil Kings, Everett Silvertips, Prince Albert Raiders, and the Winnipeg Ice. The Kelowna Rockets have the 15th pick, one behind the Blazers.
