Prince George RCMP arrested two suspects following an assault in the city on Tuesday. 

According to police, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers received a report of an unruly passenger on a transit bus on the campus of UNBC. Initial reports were that an intoxicated man, who was with a woman, was harassing other passengers. 

After refusing to leave the bus, the two assaulted the bus driver. The bus was cleared for the safety of all passengers and a call was made to police. 

RCMP quickly made their way to the scene and high-tailed it towards the pair who were walking away. The first officer that arrived attempted to arrest the man, but was met with resistance. A call for help was quickly made to other officers who diverted to UNBC.

During the incident, the first officer was assaulted, though they managed to arrest the individual with help from another RCMP member. The woman also resisted arrest but was quickly taken into police custody. 

A 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were held overnight and will appear in court today. The first officer involved went to the hospital for minor injuries.
