Our Saturday Spotlight series that will feature a new, local act every other weekend, to better strengthen our scene and get to know the people behind the music.

Get To Know: Where We Wander

This Kelowna rock quartet has been creating and performing within the valley for over a decade.

Where We Wander pulls elements from a variety of genres such as the blues and jazz to hip-hop and progressive metal in order to create their own unique breed of rock n’ roll.

How did the band come to be?

We have been good friends since childhood and have shared the same dream collectively for as long as we can remember.

This band has taken old friends and turned us into a family in which we have no seams, joining together relentless musical force.

What is your favorite part of being involved in the local music scene?

The sheer support we have throughout the valley to highlight and showcase local music, passion, and what our local musicians are working towards.

We are in a unique spot geographically and are very excited and happy to be a part of this Okanagan music scene. Not to mention we have the nicest city in the country here!

What do you hope listeners “get” from your music?

Nearly every song we write has a story behind it. Some have self-explanatory lyrics and some have hidden meanings.

The beautiful part about other people hearing it, means they interpret it in their own way. We hope they bring meaning and feelings to others, even if it is different than our own.

The band is eager to show fans more of the underlying tales between the notes with their forthcoming single, “A1.”

Hailed as the band’s “driving song” the track was inspired by frontman Jesse Jacobson’s, travels to and from Langley each weekend to join his fellow bandmates in the never-ending grind to achieving success in the music industry.

Recorded, mixed and mastered at Echo Plant Recording Studio in Coquitlam, the new single will mark the group’s second partnership with audio engineer Matt Di Pompino and promises to be a rock forward track driven by passion and guitars that will leave you wanting to sit in your car, singing at the top of your lungs until it's over.

The track is set to be unleashed in early February with the group hosting its release show in Vancouver on Feb. 8. They will also be hosting a second show in Kelowna shortly after, more details on accompanying acts, a secure date and location will be announced within the coming weeks.

While you wait, you can follow along with Where We Wander on Facebook to stay up to date in regards to upcoming shows and on Spotify or Apple Music to listen your little heart out!
