It appears Prince George residents just don't get it when it comes to impaired driving… 

The Prince George RCMP continued to target impaired drivers as part of a provincial CounterAttack campaign. From December 9th to the 15th, police handed out 15 different violations for impaired driving. 

Of the 15 violations, two were part of Criminal Code impaired driving investigations, three were 90-day immediate Roadside Prohibitions with a 30-day vehicle impoundment, three were 3-day IRPs, four were 24-hour driving prohibitions for alcohol, and three were 24-hour driving prohibitions for drugs.

Police also issued five prohibited driver tickets, 25 Motor Vehicle Act violation tickets, and impounded 20 vehicles. 

"Despite our best efforts to warn drivers that our officers will be out in full force," says Cpl. Craig Douglass. "Some people still choose to drive while impaired.  Everyone else should be aware of this and be extra cautious while utilizing our roadways."

Police are continuing to provide enhanced enforcement throughout the rest of the holiday season. Officers use a variety of tools to catch impaired drivers, such as Approved Screening Devices, Physical Coordination Testing, and Drug Recognition Experts.
