An exciting group of talented Okanagan athletes and builders were inducted into the Central Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday morning. 

Headling the list of inductees for 2019 was nonother than two-time Olympic medalist Kelsey Serwa.

The 30-year-old won a gold medal in ski cross at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games after taking home the silver medal in ski cross at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

Along with Serwa, Robyn Buna, Tania Jones and Duncan McNaughton were inducted as athletes.

Buna was named Athlete of the Year at Kelowna’s 2007 Civic Awards and went on to win three national championships while playing for Simon Fraser University.

Jones was recognized for her achievements as a marathon runner that include winning multiple championships at both the provincial and national levels.

McNaughton, who passed away in 1998, earned an Olympic gold medal in 1932, the U.S. National Intercollegiate title in 1933 and was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1955.

Co-founder of the Okanagan Track Club Roger Lafontaine was inducted in the Pioneer Builder category and Daphne Richard was inducted in the Builder category for her work in the sport of horseback riding.
