Prince George RCMP officially made it even easier to report crimes to police. 

According to Cpl. Craig Douglass, starting today, residents will be able to make online reports of crimes that fall under certain criteria, particularly instances where no suspects or witnesses were present and no police action is required.

Specifically, residents will be able to report "Damage to property under $5,000," "Damage to a vehicle under $5,000," Hit and run to an unoccupied vehicle under $5,000," "Theft of a bicycle under $5,000," "Theft under $5,000," "Theft from a vehicle under $5,000," and "Lost property."

Residents will be unable to report these incidents online if witnesses or suspects were present, items over $5,000 were lost, or if items taken included personal identity, firearms, license plates, or decals.

"Reports from the public are an essential part of determining how our policing resources are deployed in the city," said S/Sgt. Kent MacNeill. "This online reporting tool will provide a more convenient way to report less serious incidents that do not require police follow-up while allowing frontline officers to focus on emergency and more serious calls for service.  Ultimately, this will enhance our service delivery to residents of Prince George and surrounding communities."
