Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kamloops?
I am born and raised in Kamloops and I am happy to say our financial firm is locally based here in Kamloops.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My business partner Sandy Vollo. We are a mother-daughter operated firm, and I can’t imagine starting a business with anyone else.
What is your favourite local store in Kamloops and why?
I honestly couldn’t name just one. We are so lucky to have so many local, unique businesses in Kamloops with amazing people running them. To name a few: Real Deals, Desert Rain Giftware, Far&Wide, The Pond Country Market and The Art We Are.
Describe yourself in one word.
Ambitious.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would love to go to Greece, I think it would be an amazing experience learning about their culture, and of course, try their amazing cuisine.
What is your favourite activity in Kamloops?
I really enjoy trying art classes at Redemption Pottery, 4Cats, and checking out the Paintnite events! I spend a lot of time checking out all of our beautiful hiking trails with my dog Finn.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I can’t think of one surprisingly, but there’s no shortage!
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
I honestly am pretty inspired by all of the business owners in Kamloops. It takes a lot of courage, hard work, patience and determination to be a business owner. I think our community is starting to see more & more locally owned small businesses and I absolutely love it. I think the more small businesses we have, the more unique our community becomes. I am even more inspired that I see people in our community trying to support local every day.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My favourite memory would probably be going to North Barriere Lake to my friend’s cabin most summers. There is something to be said about being away from cell service and creating your own adventures.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I volunteer at the One to One reading program. It's a volunteer program to help children in the elementary schools learn how to read. I went to University to be an Educational Assistant originally, so I love that I’m able to use my previous education.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I wish more people would consider being organ donors, I know a lot of people that aren’t even sure if they are or not. I had a friend pass away a couple of years ago unexpectedly, and he managed to save/change seven people’s lives by being a donor.
Where would you sneak away to in Kamloops to spend some time alone?
Paul Lake – it’s beautiful, relaxing and out of cell service. It’s definitely my favourite summertime hiking spot.

1) Canoe Lake Louise.
2) Check out the Keyhole Hot Springs.
3) Take a trip to the Woods on Pender resort.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I got into this business when I was 20 years old on a contract basis that was only supposed to last a few months. I ended up working my way up over the eight years and completed five designations and two licenses at that time.
What is the goal of your business?
We want to make investing and obtaining insurance easy for the client. We are unique because we aren’t a 9 am to 5 pm firm, our appointment times are flexible, and we come to you. We don’t have one set location, and we like to accommodate our clients' preferences.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
My biggest struggle is my age. A lot of people think because you’re young you aren’t as experienced. I obtained my CFP, CLU, CHS, CEA, and CPCA to help people have more confidence in me as a young Advisor.
What do you always find yourself saying?
"Stay Positive."
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
The energy you give off is the energy you attract into your life.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Jen Sincero – the author of “You’re a Badass.” She has some really great insight on life & success. I would love to learn more from her.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
If we don’t support local shops, they won’t last. I personally love that we have so many new companies popping up, and I want to continue to see them do well by our support as a community.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Obtaining my Certified Financial Planner. It was my biggest and most challenging designation.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
The Lemon Project. It’s a wonderful marketing company in Kamloops and two pretty awesome women run it. I’ve never met more patient people and with such a unique eye for photography.
