UPDATE: Hwy 97 near Okanagan Falls now open in both directions

(Update: 7:30 pm) – Drive BC is now reporting that Highway 97 near Okanagan Falls is clear.

(Original Story) – DriveBC is reporting that Highway 97 near Okanagan Falls is currently closed in both directions after a collision this afternoon.

The incident is located 3 kilometres south of the community, between Sundial Road and Vaseux Lake Crescent.

Emergency vehicles are on scene and an assessment is in progress.

DriveBC is warning that travellers should expect major delays. A detour is available via Highway 3A from Kaleden to Keremeos. There is not currently an estimated time of reopening.

The next update is expected at 6:30 pm.
