It's a sad reality that if you reside in Canada, it's unlikely you're aware of wine production outside of your own province, let alone access to purchase it.
A new startup is aiming to change this. Crushable, a direct to consumer wine club, is working with boutique wineries all over Canada and making relatively unknown wines accessible to the average consumer.
It's a no risk deal: sign up for their email list to learn about producers from all over the country, and opt in each month if the wines on offer should pique your fancy.
Each pack contains 4-6 bottles, and will always be less than $200, including taxes and shipping.
Last month they featured up and coming winemaker Kelsey Rufiange, from Echo Bay and Else Wines located in Okanagan Falls.
Featured in the pack was Kelsey's much sought after Bordeaux style blend Synoptic, and the sold out Else Wines skin contact Muscat.
This month they're featuring Maggie Grange from Prince Edward County, located two hours east of Toronto, another young, powerhouse female winemaker making waves in the industry.
The goal of the club is to showcase family owned wineries who are prudently respectful to their land, not relying on toxic sprays, and allowing the wines to express themselves with as much purity as possible.
The result – stunning examples of the calibre of wine coming out of Canada that the average consumer doesn't generally have access to.
Most of these wineries make less than a few thousand cases per year, and sell out directly from their cellar door.
How cool is it that you can now have access to wines from places you didn't even know produced it?
Crushable also aims to educate just as much as they plan to ply you with delicious juice; their emails are always entertaining, educational and unconventional, with future plans to expand into throwing pop up events, making their own merchandise, and more.
