This is some breaking news!

  • Local DJs to rock ‘Rollers Ahoy’ event on Okanagan Lake

Following two consecutive sell-out sailings, the artists behind Kelowna’s Rollers Only movement are once again ready to cruise the waters of Okanagan Lake.

This Friday, Aug. 30, Broken Future, Cain and STUND will bring their brand of tech-house aboard the Boardroom Boat from 8:30 pm to midnight.

All three artists have become well known in Kelowna’s electronic music scene for their monthly Rollers Only events at Sapphire Nightclub.

“The name ‘Rollers Only’ is derived from some classic music slang, specifically the tech-house genre, where the songs feature rolling basslines,” explained Ben Stunden, aka STUND.

“We originally started throwing events under the Rollers Only name, we’ve since turned it into a record label and a house music brand.”

Both Broken Future and STUND also have EPs set to drop in the near future on music labels based out of the UK.

It’s a sign that Rollers Only focus on self-produced tech-house is beginning to make a name for itself outside of the popular Kelowna-based events.

The crew is also responsible for Kelowna’s popular BeatLab, where local electronic producers can go to perfect their craft using professional gear that may otherwise be out of their price range.

“All the tracks we play at the Rollers Only events and every track we’ve had signed to record labels has been made at the BeatLab,” said Stunden.

“It's a cool Kelowna collective that empowers local musicians and we’re really starting to build a cult following of house music fans.”
