(UPDATE: 9:22 p.m.) – With just five polling stations left to be counted, it looks like Colin Basran is a lock to be re-elected as mayor of Kelowna.

Basran has 14,389 of a total 25,599 votes, with Tom Dyas, Bobby Kennedy and Bob Scewe splitting the other 11,000 or so votes.

(UPDATE: 9:05 p.m.) – It looks like Colin Basran will be continuing his role as the mayor of Kelowna.

With nine of 21 polling stations and 15,540 total votes counted, the 40-year-old has received 8,672 votes.

That gives him a hefty lead over Tom Dyas, who is in second place with 5,299 votes, while Bobby Kennedy and Bob Schewe are lagging behind with around 2,500 votes combined.

(Original story: 8:55 p.m.) – The polls are closed and the votes are being tallied to see who will serve as Kelowna's mayor for the 2018-22 term.

Colin Basran has jumped out to an early and commanding lead over Tom Dyas, Bobby Kennedy and Bob Schewe. 

It's early, but with six of 21 polling stations reporting, Basran has received 6,162 of a possible 10,469 votes.

Tom Dyas has received 2,765 votes, Bobby Kennedy has 742 votes and Bob Schewe has 472 votes.

When it comes to the city council race, seven of the seven incumbent councillors are currently in line to be re-elected.

Loyal Wooldridge is currently slated to snag the last spot on council, vacated by Tracy Gray, with Gord Lovegrove and Graeme James hot on his heels.
