My name is Basia, I was born and raised in Kelowna by my Polish parents that came here in 1982. I have a shepsky that I love to bits and we both LOVE being outdoors and exploring during all 4 seasons (Winter in particular) Hiking, Hammocking, Camping, biking, snowshoeing, snowboarding etc. I love to go places that steer us towards the beaten path…. because why not. I inherited my dads camera happiness and love to share through the pictures that I take – the places that I go, things I do for the first time (win or fail), and the beautiful views that I'm so lucky to experience.
Why do you use Instagram?
For inspiration! Whether it be an awesome quote, a photo of a person going on an outdoor adventure that gives me ideas of where to go or what to try next, food recipes etc.
What will people see on your feed?
My feed consists of my dog (she's the coolest), everything that I love to do outdoors (hiking, camping, snowshoeing etc) and once in a blue moon a shot of my make up done and me in a pretty dress.
Does your page have a specific style?
I would say my style is eclectic, outdoorsy, adventurous with a bit of style (hopefully [😉] ). I like to keep things light and motivational and leave a good vibe in my wake.
Favourite Instagram accounts to follow?
@Thetinderblog -Because I'm single and the posts are a good chuckle.
@Thedodo – Because if I could save every animal I would, but I cant, so I like to watch the wonderful people that do what they can too!
@Awakethesoul- The posts are exactly what I love. Camping, outdoors, cabins, animals. They all have a vibe that I relate to!
@Mountingirls – Because I am one:)
@Mybestfriendhank – Because hes the cutest pig ever and Id be ok if he wanted to be my best friend.
Why do you follow KelownaNow?
Because I like to see what's going on in our town and the beautiful shots that people take. I've lived here my whole life yet the views and beauty of Kelowna never get old. The posts are always current and you can tell that the posts you chose to share are from people that love it here as much as I do.
How do you decide on your location for shoots?
I like to go places that are hard work to get to and leave you exhausted at the end of the day. Those are the places that typically have the best views and give me the "cup is full" feeling. I like to motivate others to step out of their comfort zone so posting pictures of those places help. Ill even take credit for making winter not so horrible for some of my friends by dragging them out with me on my snow adventures (its my favorite season).
Biggest Instagram moment?
To be honest I'm always a bit slow to join the unknown of new social media so I think my biggest moment was when I realized how universal instagram is and that I can find anything and everything that I want to see and learn about as well as and finding new bigger, harder things to try in my neck of the woods or farther. Its been very inspirational.
