The LAPD is being praised for a message they sent out this week on their official Twitter that has everyone tearing up.

As wildfire continues to devastate California, much like they did in B.C. this summer, many stories surface of first responders and good samaritans going above and beyond.

The LAPD shared a photo of one of their officers saving a cat in the middle of firefighting efforts, along with a message about what their motto means to them. 

“For some, it might just be a cat. But to others, it’s a friend, a loved one, a companion. The LAPD has a motto, “To protect and to serve,” and our officers have been displaying that in many ways during the Creek fire and Skirball fire,” the LAPD wrote.

In a Facebook post, they give more background for the photo, saying the officer, Tae Kim, was knocking on doors near the Getty Centre when he and his partner saw this cat. Thanks to Officer Kim, they were able to find the owner and reunite them.

During the wildfires in B.C. this year, first responders showed the commitment to their communities when they saved all kinds of animals, from dogs to horses, all while protecting homes and residents.
