  • Whistler expected to get up to 20 cm of snow overnight

Good news for all the ski bums, or anyone who is longing for winter.

Snowfall is expected tonight for Whistler of up to 20 cm.

According to Environment Canada, a strong Pacific frontal system has stalled over the south coast this afternoon.

The system, in combination with temperatures near freezing in the Whistler Valley, has resulted in rapid accumulation of snow.

The front will move out of the area this evening, but not before depositing a total accumulation of 15 to 20 cm of snow.

Overnight temperatures will continue to hover near or just above freezing. The unstable airmass moving into the south coast tonight could produce a further 5 cm by Thursday morning.

Some local hills, like Big White, have already had some snowfall recently, getting everyone excited for ski season.
