Directions:
Located just past Gallagher's Canyon, follow KLO Road into East Kelowna. Turn right onto McCulloch Road. Follow until you reach Field Road. Following the signs, turn left to go to the main parking lot. There is a second smaller parking lot along McCulloch Road just past Field Road.
Description:
Take a walk through Scenic Canyon Regional park. With a few trails to choose from, it's possible to make it has long or short as you want. There are even a few hidden gems to find along the way. From a couple little waterfalls along KLO creek, beautiful views of Layer Cake Mountain, rock ovens, old gold pits, and even a few abandoned cars!
From the parking lot, we followed the wide gravel pathway, as it switchbacks through the forest and meadows of beautiful wildflowers. As we continued on, we got closer to the rushing water of Mission Creek.
The trail follows the sound and leads down to a rock oven along the base of a cliff wall by the creek. With some neat rock formation and an old car sitting along the creek edge, it's a cool spot to hang out.
On the way back to the parking lot, there is a trail leading to a bridge to cross KLO Creek. This is a a great side trail, offering beautiful views of Layer Cake Mountain. With a steep climb, it's also a great workout!
