What is your name?
Trish Crick
What do you always find yourself saying?
I’ve been told I tell a lot of people to “go smile at someone”.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select and why?
Ellen DeGeneres! I smiled just saying that! We immediately step into that child-like place in our being that says it’s ok to laugh and smile out loud and even more important, it is so much more fun to share laughter with others. It’s such a healthy thing to do! I am trying to manifest meeting Ellen and hopefully being on her show one day!
If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
I’m not in a space in this season of my life to look for recognition on a personal level. I am, though, very proud of the fact that Moksha Yoga Kelowna (my daughter, Kylie; my husband Randy; and myself own) has received the recognition it has in the Kelowna and Okanagan area. The studio is a place where space is held for people to become the best version of themselves and where a sense of community is fostered and used as a powerful way to make our world a better place to be one breath one person at a time.

If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
Pope Francis. The 266th and current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, chose Francis as his papal name in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi who lived a life of poverty and is the patron saint for ecologists (ecologists are concerned with ecosystems as a whole, the abundance and distribution of organisms; people, plants, and animals and the relationships between organisms and their environment). How special is that in this time of a growing global movement to a more informed awareness and an open loving heart towards our ecosystems including those that are marginalized from the ‘norm’ as defined by a more political and financial agenda! He’s been referred to as the pope for all people. Since arriving at the Vatican, Pope Francis has put poor people at the centre of his global agenda and has reached out to and generated interest from people of all religious traditions.
Who inspires you?
My granddaughter Malaya I would have to say is my strongest inspiration lately! She will be two in July and her innocence, her desire to learn and love and share and play unconditionally always makes me smile and gives me goosebumps! And who wouldn’t when you watch that little waddle run as she invites us to live life to the fullest.
What are three things on your bucket list?
To meet Ellen DeGeneres
To be a part of a World Health Organization mission that focuses on the women and children in Africa.
To go to Bali with my best friend, my husband and stay in one of those rooms at the end of a dock over the water!
If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
This is it! Only because I know for sure my element is water and to be in or by water fills my soul!

If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
A day filled with love and full tummies for all children!
What are you passionate about?
That’s a loaded question but i think it can be summed up by saying I am passionate about being more present. I see myself somewhere in that fall season of my life (I love the metaphor of seasons through our lifespan vs young or old!) and I am working hard to let go of anchors that hold me back and take up space in my home, my heart and my personal being. When i think about being more present for myself and others, I get excited and grateful for this day and want to smile!
What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
Any day that has had my mom, my husband and daughters Kylie and Mallory in it has been a favorite day for me!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Being a mother…Loving my daughters with all the doors open by giving them roots and wings! Seeing them blossom make my heart smile!
Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna? What do you like about it?
The Keg! It rekindles special memories throughout my marriage with my husband Randy here in Kelowna and back home in Edmonton.
What is your favourite activity or event in Kelowna? Why?
Each day that gets me outside in nature; either in/by the water or up in the mountains.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Moksha Yoga Kelowna (MYK)
We are located at #206, 2900 -Pandosy St. (Across from Marmalade Cat Cafe)
Ph 778-478-0933
What does your business/organization do?
MYK is a space you will feel welcomed in regardless of age, ability, injury and personal life path. Many say they feel like they have arrived at home when they walk through the doors. As a matter of fact, when Sting performed in Kelowna, we received a call asking if he could come again and practice a second day as he felt he could be his own person in his practice in the space MYK held for him! MYK is a yoga studio that has hot yoga in the ‘sunroom’ and the ‘moon room’ offers warm yoga, kids yoga, prenatal yoga, aerial yoga, wheelchair yoga, meditation, and stay tuned….! That’s ‘on our mats’! “Off our mats” MYK is about community, about relationships with each other and business to make a difference in our world. We support and reach out through Karma funds and personal time to events/organizations that work hard to make a difference. A few that come to mind that we have worked extensively with are the Kelowna branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, The Central Okanagan Community Food Bank, and School District 23.

If you could achieve one thing within your field, what would it be?
To empower our teachers and students to trust in the power of their inner wisdom and celebrate the moments in our lives.
Where do you want your business/organization to be in five years?
A strong pillar in the Okanagan for community outreach, the environment, and contributing to world peace one yogi one breath at a time.
Who do you consider to be a forerunner within your field?
Ted Grand and Jessica Robertson (co-founders Moksha/Modo Yoga) for their unending love and commitment to creating a better world. Namaste!
What three qualities do you feel that your business/organization exemplifies?
A warm welcome and a personal experience to all that walk through the doors of MYK.
The strength and power of community and community outreach.
Environmental stewardship by example and offerings.
What would you like to say to your employees/volunteers?
Hmm this is when words are lacking in our language to express the language when our hearts are smiling! Namaste! From my heart to yours and so much love and gratitude for all that you show up to be and bring to make MYK a special place for all to feel like family.
How does your business/organization impact the community?
We combine our love of hot yoga with our love of community outreach and environmental awareness. Together, through this commitment we make the world a better place. In the spirit of community MYK strongly believes in giving back and has donated over $80K through Karma classes and other charitable endeavours since we opened in 2011.
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
Experts that have no ties to money driven political, pharmaceutical or environmental agendas. Experts that understand the power and strength in community and have an open mind and desire to make the world a better place. I’m sure the conversation would include introducing them to 350.org and hopefully they are already aware!
