The Cariboo Regional District has announced more changes to evacuation orders in the area of 100 Mile House. 

An evacuation order for the area northwest of 100 Mile House around Tatton Station Road has been downgraded to an evacuation alert.

Cariboo Regional District areas south of Lac la Hache previously on evacuation order are also now on evacuation alert.

While residents are able to return to 100 Mile House and surrounding areas, locations north of Lac La Hache, including the City of Williams Lake, remain on evacuation order.

The CRD says services, such as grocery and health care, could be limited in areas for some time. Those choosing to return should ensure they have a full tank of gas and up to seven days worth of basic necessities, including food and prescriptions.

Because these areas remain on evacuation alert, residents will need to be prepared to evacuate their property should the situation change.

Air quality also remains poor and a smoky skies advisory is still in effect.

Residents currently staying south of 100 Mile House can take Highway 97 to get home. However, Highway 97 remains closed between McLeese Lake and Lac La Hache. Residents staying north of Williams Lake and heading home will need to take Highway 16 to Highway 5 and then along Highway 24.
