A storm in Salmon Arm caused numerous incidents of trees down. The Salmon Arm Fire Department responded to ten calls for hydro related issues where trees fell on wires and buildings.
There was at least one instance of the storm causing a tree to fall on a residence.
David and Terry Wallensteen’s home on Grandview Bench Rd. near Larch Hills Nordic Ski Area had a tree fall on top of it, breaking through the crawl space.

The wind picked up in their area around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 23rd when Terry Wallensteen was home alone.
The tree did not break through the ceiling and Wallensteen and their dog got out safely.
According to Brad Shirley, Fire Chief for the City of Salmon Arm, their first call was on the Trans Canada highway where there was a tree fallen, causing the highway to be closed for a short period of time. Highway 97B was also closed briefly due to a similar incident.

All four fire halls in the city responded to numerous calls as a result of the storm. There were some power outages throughout the area as a result of the storm.
